Project Spotlight: New Covenant Church
When the New Covenant Church was looking to relocate to Trappe, PA, they sought the assistance of Gorski Engineering to design and develop a site that would meet the needs of their growing congregation. Gorski Engineering produced a plan and budget for the site and building so the church could undertake a fundraising campaign and secure construction financing. The rendering below shows the ultimate vision. The first phase of the project was completed in 2006.

Because of complexity and cost, the project was broken into phases. Phase 1 saw the development of the entire site for stormwater management (including a conventional basin and underground storage facilities), the widening of a State road, the installation of extensive landscaping, construction of 130 macadam parking spaces and the erection of a 8,500 square foot facility.

The construction of the new building required the demolition of an existing structure and extensive sitework to accommodate the complex stormwater management facilities. A new deceleration lane was installed along State Route 113 and utilities were upgraded to allow for a building-wide wet sprinkler system.
Metal Trusses Sheathing Framing/Trusses
The building is a 100' x 85' conventionally-framed structure, using steel studs and engineered steel trusses. The front facade is adorned with a split-faced masonry wainscot and stucco, while the sides and rear are sheathed with a cementitious siding material. The facility contains a 3,600 square foot worship space, offices, restroom facilities and classrooms.
The new home of the New Covenant Church was completed in four months. The Dedication Ceremony was held on December 03, 2006.
